Vision Zero
Vision Zero is the (long term) ambition to make work and production free of (serious) accidents and work-related illnesses.
It implies the consistent promotion of safety, health and wellbeing at work. Visible leadership and a proactive prevention culture are thereby essential.
Some basic assumptions:
- The conviction that all (serious) accidents and work-related illnesses are preventable; consequently this is worth doing your best (organizationally, individually)
- Zero risk does not exist
- People make mistakes, human error can only partly be prevented, but you can always learn from it.
- Human life and health are always more important than production or money
Vision Zero is a long term ambition; it is not a target to make people or departments accountable for.
